Mediation & Conciliation Centre was started by the Hon'ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh at District Courts, Chandigarh on 16th May, 2008. Later on, the control and supervision of the Mediation and Conciliation Centre was entrusted to the State Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh in the month of July 2013 by the Hon'ble High Court.
The cases pending in the District Courts where settlement is possible are taken up in the Mediation & Conciliation Centre for settlement . In addition of this, Matrimonial and family disputes pending before Crime against Women cell are referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre for settlement. The cases are settled through trained Mediators as per Mediation and Conciliation Rules framed by the Hon'ble High Court. Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh is the Nodal Officer to look after the functioning of the Mediation Centre.
