Hotel fined Rs 5,000 after Customer finds Iron Wire in Biryani

A resident of Kukatpally was in for a shock when along with the biryani & curd rice he ordered, he was also given a piece of iron wire. After raising a complaint with the GHMC, the restaurant, from where the food was ordered , was fined Rs 5,000.

Srinivas Bellam placed an order from Raja Vari Ruchulu in Kukatpally on Wednesday night. “While eating biryani, I felt something odd in my mouth. When I removed it I realised it was a piece of iron wire,” he said. Bellam informed the Zomato team, which delivered the food, about the incident. “The food delivery team responded by apologising & offered a discount instead,” said Bellam, wondering what he would do with the discount coupon.

Bellam then complained through the My GHMC app & Twitter. “Within a day, the health team visited the hotel & imposed a fine,” he said, adding that he will soon lodge a complaint with the consumer forum. “Zomato is deeply committed to food safety, quality & hygiene. We are in touch with the customer & will take action,” Zomato said in a statement.
